Symposium Program & Participation

451 2014 Symposium, Stresa, ItalyThe IEOC is all about participation, after all…’you get out of it what you put into it’! The Symposium has been organized to create an intimate, welcoming atmosphere to encourage participation from members of all levels of education and various backgrounds. This organization thrives on learning from each other and sharing our related professional challenges. We would like everyone to consider getting involved either by presenting at the meeting, participating in the Forum or volunteering to serve on a committee.

This year, consider submitting an abstract or case report presentation for the Symposium. This event is the one time annually that approximately 70-90 of our members assemble from around the world to share information. The atmosphere is welcoming, not contentious and is designed to encourage participation of all members. If you submit to present, the Planning Committee will contact you within two weeks to allow you two months to prepare. Presentation opportunities include the more formally researched abstracts but also provides for general case reports with discussion. Abstract presentations are approximately 20 minutes long and some questions may be asked, case reports are closer to 15. Several times we have organized group topic discussions or ‘hot topic’ sessions to allow further discussion on interesting and timely topics. Presentations are given in English, but over half of our members represent 20 non-English speaking countries so there is no need to be concerned about perfect grammar or enunciation. Your ideas and experience are of value to all involved.452 2014 Symposium, Stresa, Italy

If you would like to speak with a representative of the Planning Committee to see if this would be an appropriate opportunity for you, please contact our office and we will facilitate an email discussion. If presentation at a meeting sounds of interest, plan to submit the call for abstracts or case reports each winter. This call is posted on the website and emailed to the membership annually in January – typically due in early March. The Symposium usually takes place the first or second weekend in June.
